Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The Liberal Grand Lodge of Türkiye welcomes the Obediences participating in the 20th Meeting of the Mediterranean Masonic Union.
The period of the Covid pandemic that we have all unfortunately experienced has prevented our Obediences from resuming our usual fraternal meetings. However, another such unfortunate event that has just struck Türkiye, deprives us of the chance of enjoying our reunion to the fullest. A magnitude 7.8 earthquake fell upon our country at the beginning of February, causing tens of thousands of deaths and injuries. We mourn our victims.
The year 2023 represents the centenary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye under the aegis of the great statesman and great visionary, Atatürk. Among his precepts, two are particularly important, "peace in the country, peace in the world," and "the greatest guide in life is science." The latter precept establishes the secular foundation of the Republic of Türkiye, as stated in its Constitution. Our Obedience, the Liberal Grand Lodge of Türkiye, has espoused this principle as part of our republican values.
The participants in this 20th Meeting will attend the installation ceremony of the Most Respectable Grand Master and the College of Grand Officers of the Liberal Grand Lodge of Türkiye. This event is important, because the pandemic has prevented our Obedience from carrying out the election of Grand Officers at the usual periods.
The symposium included in the program will invite us to reflect on Social and Environmental Sustainability in the Mediterranean.
